In what amounted to a pitching duel, the Kingston Yellow Jackets lost a close 3-1 ballgame to the Stone Memorial Panthers Thursday evening at Fort Southwest Point.

Carson Ladd pitched a valiant effort for the Jackets in the loss, going the distance in seven innings. Ladd gave up three runs on four hits while sitting down seven Panther batters.
Kingston outhit Stone five to four with Tyson McAmis leading the Jackets with two hits.
The Panthers opened the contest by scoring two runs in the top of the first inning.
A ground out by Bryce Elmore pushed across the scores to make it 2-0 before the Jackets even had a chance to bat.
After Stone scored its third run of the game in the top of the third frame, Blake Herrell was able to answer for Kingston in the bottom of the inning.
Herrell swiped third base after drilling a double into the outfield. He was able to come home following an error at third with McAmis at the plate.
With the score now 3-1 and Kingston generating some momentum, it looked as if things might be on the upward swing for the Jackets.
It wasn’t to be, however as Kingston couldn’t push across anymore runners.
In addition to his theft of third base, Herrell swiped one more base in the game.
In the field, the Jackets were able to turn a double play to show case their fielding ability.
